This look is part of my project called Sulapa': A Gentle Strength. The idea is inspired by a Bugis philosophy of "Sulapa' Eppa" (literal meaning: square/four sides), talking about natural elements, worldviews, and human principles. This one represents Earth, which is meant to convey the idea of stability, grounding, and staying rooted. So, I designed this to be a three-in-one look consisting of a knee length dress, a detachable skirt, and a shrug.
• The materials: Cotton, embroidered organza, and Lipa' Sabbe (Bugis handwoven sarong) all sourced from fashion gallery waste. • Key construction: Asymmetrical pattern drafting, criss-cross strap lacing, and a high-low detachable skirt.
